Motorcycle NewsNot much motorcycles have been talked about like the Yamaha YZF-R25, and even after the YZF-R25 was recently launched in Indonesia and will very likely make its way to Thailand.

We have learned from well informed sources that Yamaha Motor may launch a 250cc sportsbike with a single-cylinder engine for selective markets which will provide 30 horsepower instead of the 36 horsepower the parallel-twin engine of the YZF-R25 produce. Yamaha Motor will manufacture the motorcycle in India and the single-cylinder configuration will help them achieve more competitive pricing against its direct rival, the Honda CBR250R.

Supercharged Honda Motorcycle in Development

Motorcycle NewsHonda is also working on turbo-charged motorcycle, as one of the last big four Japanese manufacturers, Honda applied for several patents suggesting a supercharged or turbocharged engine with strict exhaust emission control is coming soon from Honda Big Wing.

Honda appears to be working on at least two designs. One is a parallel twin – effectively the front half of the VRF1200F's SOHC V-4 engine – with a supercharger/turbocharged but surely forced induction technology located where you'd normally find the rear cylinder bank and an intercooler mounted above it, where the airbox usually resides. That should be enough hardware to boost performance back up toward something like the 160 crankshaft horsepower produced by the current VFR1200F, with just half the displacement.

The second design is something more intriguing – an inline-four with a small supercharger mounted down low and in front of the crankshaft. The engine uses reversed cylinder architecture, with the intake at the front and the exhaust at the rear and the cylinder bank is telted slightly backwards relative to the motorcycle's frame, much like the layout used on Honda's NSF250R Moto3 racebike.

The 2015 Honda Africa Twin - The Big Rumor

Motorcycle NewsThe iconic Honda Africa Twin may have several Dakar wins to its name and a reputation for go-anywhere toughness that has lasted well after the model was discontinued, but in Thailand the go-anywhere do anything Honda Africa Twin was never officially imported, The current offering, the Honda CB500X and VFR1200X are good motorcycles but it's most certainly more road-oriented than the Africa Twin or even the good old Honda Transalp was designed to be. That leaves a hole in the Honda range that is conspicuous given that the adventure range sector is the market biggest growth market.

Rumors has it, however, that Honda has an all-new Africa Twin fresh from the drawing board. At this stage the rumor has done several laps around the world in more languages than I have fingers and filled Internet searches with circumstantial claims, but is yet to be comprehensively confirmed.

The rumor started with a quote from Vito Cicchetti, the General Manager of Honda, Italy, he repetitively confirmed last year that the Honda Africa Twin will return in 2015.

The New Yamaha MT-125 - Small Master of Torque

Motorcycle NewsHaving made an impact with the three-cylinder, 847cc Yamaha MT-09 and redefined how a 650cc class motorcycle should behave, Yamaha now hope to disjoint a few noses in the 125cc market with the Yamaha MT-125.

As we now probably all know “MT” stands for Master of Torque, however the new 125cc motorcycle is based on the in India built 125cc, 15 horsepower Yamaha YZF-R125. The eager four-valve single-cylinder engine is unchanged from the in Europe hugely popular entry sportsbike, as is most of the rest of the motorcycle – frame, upside-down forks, rear shock, tire sizes, radial front brake and geometry are all the same to the Yamaha YZF-R125.

Honda MotoGP Road Legal Race Replica May Come

Motorcycle NewsLast year Honda confirmed they are going to build a road legal motorcycle based on their MotoGP racer – the 999.5cc, V4, 230 horsepower Honda RCV12. It's more than idle chat as the motorcycle is now being tested.

Honda president Takanobu Ito said the new MotoGP race replica would deliver the excitement the Honda VFR750 RC30 created back in the '80s. The new model will have more impact, though, essentially being the RCV1000R. 'Imagine an Open class MotoGP bike with lights and you're there,'' confirmed a Honda representative not so long ago. Honda build three prototypes of the MotoGP race replica with testing scheduled for May in Japan.
