Yamaha 250cc Single-Cylinder Sportsbike
We have learned from well informed sources that Yamaha Motor may launch a 250cc sportsbike with a single-cylinder engine for selective markets which will provide 30 horsepower instead of the 36 horsepower the parallel-twin engine of the YZF-R25 produce. Yamaha Motor will manufacture the motorcycle in India and the single-cylinder configuration will help them achieve more competitive pricing against its direct rival, the Honda CBR250R.
Chassis, cycle parts and equipment will be nearly the same as the YZF-R25 shown at the launch in Indonesia and the single-cylinder version launch is expected at the beginning of 2015.
On the other hand, waiting for a 250cc single-cylinder from Yamaha to be launched in 2015 would make not much sense as Honda will at that time sell the CBR300R worldwide at very competitive pricing. Maybe Yamaha would create a single-cylinder 300cc and keep the parallel-twin at 250cc or will upgrade both... We just have to wait and see....
