It's possible that the ECU module from a Honda CBR250R has a positive influence on the performance of the Honda CRF250L.

The Honda CRF250L comes standard with a 36mm throttle body, while the Honda CBR250R comes with a 38mm throttle body. The ECU module for the Honda CBR250R has a richer and more aggressive fuel map than the ECU used on the Honda CRF250L.

If you want to go full swing you can also replace the 36mm throttle body on the CRF250L, with the 38mm throttle body from the Honda CBR250R, the Keihin 38mm throttle body used on the CBR250R is a Keihin GQ9JA. While Honda is using a Keihin GQ32A throttle body on the Honda CRF250L. The Keihin GQ9JA and Keihin GQ32A use a different injection cap, so it's very likely that you need to replace the injector (or use the injector cap from the GQ32A on the GQ9JA).

Just curious. Is it possible the PCX 125 in the US has a different ECU. Many US riders complain that they cannot get the top speeds reported in Thailand from their US PCX's.

Yes it's very likely that the US and European Honda PCX 125 and PCX150 are equipped with an ECU that is more concentrated for fuel efficiency and less to performance. The ECU for the Thai Honda PCX125 and PCX150 is more aggressive, more performance but that comes with less fuel efficiency.

To avoid misunderstandings, the Honda PCX125 and PCX150 use different ECU's which are reported to be incompatible to another (do not use a PCX150 ECU on a PCX125).

How much is the cbr250 ecu in Thailand? If cheap enough, I'd be interested in plugging one in to see how it feels!

Both these mods are well worth doing. The CRF performs so much better. In particular revs out longer in each gear. Feels like a totally different bike now. Cost for both from Honda dealer BHT6020. I have however also combined it with an aftermarket exhaust and airbox mod. Throttle body comes complete with all parts including fuel injector . Well worth doing

Do we know if the new Motard version already has these mods? It would make sense as it is targeted as an "urban" bike but for Off-road there is a reason why Honda made the bikes differently.

I do not think that Honda has used another ECU for the CRF250M, but to be sure you need to wait until 30 January, as Honda will display the CRF250M at the 2013 Bangkok Motorbike Fest in Bangkok. This will be the first time that we can get close enough to check it.

Great Information! I want to try the ECU on my 250L! But how would one get ahold of the Thai ECU when located in the United States?
My basic search's have left me empty handed on how to get ahold of the 13' CBR ECU.

Technical update the ECU and PGM-FI unit of the Thai Honda CRF250L and Honda CRF250M are identical. Which means that the 2013 CRF250M is not using the ECU and PGM-FI unit of the Honda CBR250 as suggested in some earlier posts.

Thank you for the information on what to do in order to get the PGM-FI. I WILL be registering to the website! Now I have a question regarding something mentioned by Thai Design earlier in the thread.It was said the Thai PFM-FI is unrestricted, now I am curious, what is unrestricted compared to the U.S. PGM-FI?

Hi friends, l am also a owner of an CRF250L in Germany. This sounds very interesting to me. The price for the CBR250R Control unit and the Injection unit is with around 150 € also OK. How can I order these parts? Do somebody have a Dealer contact in Thailand? E-Mail adress? How about the Bill - is it like a kind of pre-paying before shipping?
