The whole buying a motorcycle with a tourist visa is in a grey area. I believe its possible, but I hear that some people have problems with it.
Most embassies can print a letter of residency in Thai language, or you can get a Certificate of Residence from the immigration office and most Department of Road Transport accept it in combination with a tourist visa.
“P.S. we where told that you cannot get a Certificate of Residence or buy a motorcycle with a Visa on Arrival … as this is not considered a “real” visa. This we cannot confirm or deny...”

thank for the info, i might wait until next year until i move over on a more permanent basis when i have a work permit.....i just really miss my bike when im over there...perfect weather etc.
Did think about importing my 15 year old triumph trident sprint but it looks like i would be paying double its value in import duties + shipping+registration, not really worth it!
I will find a way around it, i have some good farang friends over there maybe buy through them, sorry im waffling........................
