It's a shame that the new 2013 Kawasaki KLR650 will still not be introduced onto the Thai motorcycle market....

Premium ??? I dont think so, try Budjet, Basically unchanged for many years, not even upside down forks, this is no premium motorcycle.

According to several motorcycle critics the Kawasaki is the best single-cylinder 650cc class off-road/adventure motorcycle. Others in the same class are for example the Honda XL650L, Suzuki DR650SE and the Yamaha XT660R.

Maybe we should not called the Kawasaki KLR650 a Premium motorcycle, but more one of the best 650cc single-cylinder off-road/adventure motorcycles.

What a pity Kawasaki can't or won't make their very effective KLR650 available in Thailand.

If it is 'too dirty' for Thailand surely by now they could have replaced the carbs with fuel injection.

Red Baron in Bangkok has a yellow 2013 Kawasaki KLR650 available for 518,000 THB.

So I guess that's been imported, in which case can it be made legal to own and to ride on Thai roads?

Incidentally, from previous experiences, that company NEVER reply to emails (and there-by probably lose quite a few sales).

They are selling for the equivalent of 255,000 baht new 'ride away' in Australia!

I think that everybody in Thailand knows that big bikes are more expensive in Thailand than they cost in other countries. The tax you pay is especially high for imported motorcycles.

Motorcycles sold by Red Baron Bangkok are always 100% legal*, and with that can be registered and legally ride in Thailand.

* This with exception if Red Baron writes that it's a motorcycle which cannot be registered. It's rare but Red Baron has sold some pure / 100% off-road motocross bikes.

What I understand is that the Kawasaki KLR650 is brand new. Red Baron Bangkok offers a 3-year (36 months) payment with monthly payments of 8,166 THB. Down payment is a bit heavy at 259,000 THB for this bike

The Kawasaki KLR650 is maybe built in Thailand, but it's 100% built bonded-warehouse, which means that even it's built in Thai it's still outside Thailand basically. So, with current production set-up if Kawasaki Thailand would introduce the KLR650 on the Thai market it will still be an imported motorcycle.

Never did get a response from RED BARON re the KLR650 they have for sale.
So screw them, I'll always shop elsewhere.
