Kawasaki going to sell a bike from Bajaj Auto, serious?


This posting was originally posted as a comment for article The Kawasaki Pulsar 200NS - Launched in Indonesia.

First thing you need to know is that Bajaj Auto is not only a major share holder in KTM, they are also a major shareholder in Kawasaki Motorcycles.

Even in Thailand we had before the Kawasaki Boss 175, which was basically an old model of the Bajaj Avenger. Therefore it's possible that Kawasaki Thailand with the help from Bajaj Auto will introduce the Pulsar 200NS on the Thai market.

Currently Kawasaki sales figures are getting lower, therefore introducing a lower priced, more powerful competition for the Honda CBR150R would be a smart idea.

Move the Ninja 250 up to the Ninja 300cc available in other markets and sell for 175,000 Bt Then bring this one in against the CBR 250 and sell it for 99,500 Bt.. That would be the smartest move Kawasaki could make.

Before Kawasaki will import the Kawasaki Ninja 300 the Thai government has to upgrade the engine size for what is considered a small engine motorcycle. Currently the maximum engine size for a small bike is 250cc, which put everything under 250cc in a special tax group. Which makes them cheaper....

Also the rules for free trade among ASEAN member states needs to be adjusted as the free trade agreement among ASEAN member countries now only include 250cc motorcycles at the zero duty rate.

Nice looking bike and surely interested in 1 if they can keep the price at the same level

Thailand really need these bike, currently we have only Keeway and the kawa z250.
if this bike comes to Thailand at under 80K it will be really bad news for keeway.

Not only for Keeway, I think that Honda will also feel it in the CBR150R units they sell...

I not think that this Kawasaki Pulsar 200NS comes to Thailand all motorbikes from Kawasaki in Thailand have fuel injection.

Hello Jim,

You're not 100% correct, Kawasaki Thailand sells still some motorcycles with a carburetor, first the Kawasaki ZX130 (which is not sold by every dealer), and the Kawasaki KLX150 and the Kawasaki D-Tracker 150 are all equipped with a carburetor.

The Pulsar has been introduced in Laos for the 200 and 135cc variants. The 200ns gives a super-smooth ride for 92,000 Baht. The only problem is people here only see that it is an Indian-made bike and not durability and performance. Here is Facebook link of Bajaj in Laos.:

We still have no information at all about the Kawasaki Pulsar 200N being anytime soon entering the Thai motorcycle market. Of course the Thai 200cc motorcycle market is currently dominated by Chinese manufacturers and a Kawasaki model would find it hard to compete at that level...
