Motorcycle Takes the Train

Heading to the North of Thailand isn't always a piece of cake. There are a lot of dull highway kilometers to be done to get to the mountains. But now the State Railway of Thailand can whisk you from Bangkok to the north of Thailand in no time at all – leaving your sticky tires untouched, your kilometer meter low and your spirits high.

Load your motorcycle on the train at Bangkok, Hua Lamphong station in the early evening (19:35), lay your weary head down for the night - or order first a few beer from the steward, and wake-up the next day around 9:45 in the morning when the train arrives in Chiang Mai.
You saved about 800 kilometers in the process and the Thai State Railway Service is acceptable with the cost, you can call 02-2204334 for more information.

Okay, it costs money, but when you think about fuel costs on the highway – as well as boredom and squared off tires and the risk of a accident. No taking the train is not so crazy, you can start the day early and you're 100% fit to explore the Northern part of Thailand.
