The 2014 Honda CBR650F - Seriously Not Dull

Motorcycle ReviewsWhile the Honda CBR650F is also powered by an in-line four, the all-new 2014 Honda CBR650F is anything but dull. Emanating all that is sporty, its 649cc, liquid-cooled engine adds a new spot in Honda Thailand's line-up, fitting nicely between the larger Honda CBR1000RR and the smaller 471cc found on the Honda CBR500R, the Honda CBR650F even fits right in the middle when it comes to compression ratio, the CBR1000RR has a compression ratio of 12.3:1, the CBR650 has 11.4:1, and the Honda CBR500R has 10.7:1.

The Honda CBR650F has a wider wheelbase, almost 110mm, plus -0.2º of rake, and about 3mm of extra trail, weighing down the newcomer by 23 kilograms...

The Zongshen RX3 - 250cc Adventure Bike

Motorcycle ReviewsThis is the Zongshen RX3, an entry-level 250cc adventure bike, which becomes maybe soon available in Thailand. The Zongshen RX3 has a 250cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC-valves, single-cylinder engine equipped with electronic fuel injection. The chassis uses upside-down forks and a shock with damping adjustment, and details include LED lights, digital dash and hard luggage.

The Zongshen RX3 will be a completely new motorcycle for Thailand. The controls feel good, pant and presentation are decent. The seat height of 795mm makes it easier to straddle than appearances suggest, it's simple to swing your leg over it and it only weighs 175 kilograms and the 250cc engine is keen to rev.

The Yamaha MT-07 - Total Controlled Aggression

Motorcycle ReviewsThe Yamaha MT-07 is the newest 650cc class motorcycle which will soon be launched in Thailand, and with a quick look you can see directly that it's a very modern machine. Yamaha has been very clever with the styling, hiding the cheaper aesthetics and immersing it in neat trinkets like the motard style rear spindle guards. Regardless of the specifications, the Yamaha MT-07 is really good looking.

MT denotes 'More Torque'. There's no denying that the twin cylinder engine, despite that it's has only 689cc capacity, has lots of torque (10 torque more than the Kawasaki ER-6N). The grunt infested fun that sends the front wheel skyward with little encouragement. With non-adjustable suspension and a good old parallel twin engine line-up.

The Yamaha MT-07 very short gearing amplifies the sharp delivery, as does the light throttle action, and you'll struggle to keep the front wheel on the road when playing the throttle. The engine spins quickly and aggressively, but it's all beautifully controlled.

The 2014 Honda CB650F - New, But So Familiar

Motorcycle ReviewsThe new Honda CB650F, whatever you do, don't think it is related to the Honda Hornet (CB600F). No, the Honda CB650F is a brand new motorcycle that is designed by a completely new design team that fuses elements of the discontinued Honda CB600F Hornet, the spottily-practical CBR600F and even the CB500, and gives unprecedented middleweight experiences. The Honda CB650F is a motorcycle that is got the aggressive streetfighter image and is great to be seen riding, but is accessible, usable, and an ideal first step into four-cylinder big-bike motorcycling...

At least that's what Honda want us to believe. However, while the Honda CB650F was sketched out by trendy, youngful hipsters in ill-fitting strides, the senior project managers are all long-serving Honda stalwarts.. The Honda CB650F's project leader, Yoshijuki Kurayoshi, had a hand in the original Honda CB400RR, the first Honda Fireblade and the VFR750 and VFT800. The head of testing worked on the Honda RC45, CBR600RR and CBR1000RR and the super special NSR500 and RC211V.

Not, scuttling across the roads just outside Bangkok. I've not ridden a Honda CB650F before, and yet it feels like I have. It's instantly familiar and encouraging, and immediately reconcilable as a Honda.

The 2014 Suzuki VanVan 125 - Retro Look Quirky Coolness

Motorcycle ReviewsThe Suzuki VanVan 125 or RV125 is an retro-styled on-/off-road motorcycle with chunky tires, capable of cruising busy city roads and still capable or ride rough terrain, or even soft sand beaches. The first look, design-wise, the Suzuki VanVan 125 evokes minimalism – a simple round headlamp, a dated-looking fuel tank, flat seat, simple luggage rack behind the seat, and a high-mounted exhaust reminiscent of a '70s dirt-bike. No doubt, this looks isn't going o win best-of-show, but there is a sort of a quirky-coolness about the Suzuki VanVan 125. You either love it or hate it, but you can't ignore it.

The Suzuki VanVan 125 as we see it today was in the mid '70s developed, and reintroduced in the Japanese market in 2003. Currently the 2014 Suzuki VanVan 125 is equipped with a state of the art electronic fuel injection system and all the modern goodies. The 125cc engine together with the 6-speed gearbox and excellent fueling gives the Suzuki VanVan 125 performance you would not expect from a 125cc engine.

The 2014 Lifan LF250-P - 250cc Cruiser with Fuel Injection

Motorcycle ReviewsNot so long ago Lifan biggest competitor announced that they will introduce a modern 250cc V-twin cruiser equipped with a electronic fuel injection system. And as we expected Lifan has introduced the LF250-P, which is designed following the same family lines as the LF250-B and it will also be sold with the familiar V250 logo.

Some small design features are different, for instance the exhaust system is now matt black with only the heat shields on the muffler being chrome only, also the Lifan LF250-P will be equipped with a new front and rear light. The speedo on the Lifan LF250-P we had the pleasure to look at had displayed both km/h and mph (but this is market dependable).

For riding geometric the Lifan LF250-P has the wheelbase as the previous model (1495mm), the performance is according to Lifan about the same as the model with carburetor. Our experience is that the throttle response is much quicker and with that the bike gives the impression to be much more powerful.

The 2014 Yamaha Fino - Modern Scoot with Fuel-Injection

Motorcycle ReviewsThe popular 2014 Yamaha Fino in terms of engine size, the 2014 Fino 115 scooter is pretty much as good as other scooters we have seen. The 2014 Yamaha Fino is compact and is equipped with a modern fuel-injection system called YMJet-FI this makes it more fuel efficient.

The Yamaha Fino is a runaway success, and the Fino was supposed to imbibe those values of practicality and functionality, in an all-new package, meant for those who wanted an Yamaha scooter but didn't wanted to be seen riding the same scoot as everybody else. The Yamaha Fino is available in 12 standard colors, and Yamaha also offers the Fino in special theme configurations, like the “Real Madrid edition”.

The one thing we've all loved at Motorcycle Thailand is its super-smooth engine. The latest engine revision is a refinement on the smoothness of the Yamaha Fino.

The 2014 Ducati Monster 1200 and 1200S

Motorcycle ReviewsDucati's popular Monster range is expanding in 2014, with new 1200 and 1200S models. These are powered by the 1198 Testastretta dual spark engine, effectively the 1198 superbike engine re-engineerd for increased midrange and smoothness. The Ducati Monster 1200S model is the range topper, with peak power of 108kW and 125Nm.

The regular Ducati Monster 1200 makes do with 99kW. Peak torque and power arrive at 7250rpm and 8750rpm. A slipper clutch with lightweight lever activation is standard. Valve clearance checks are now out to 30,000km, with regular checks at 15,000km.

The Ducati Monster's dry weight is a claimed 182kg, wet weight 209kg. Styling features include a reshaped and larger 17.5 liter metal fuel tank, a compact headlamp, transparent master cylinder reservoirs and a new triangulated trellis frame that's twice as stiff as before.

The 2014 Ducati Hyperstrada - Very Unique Machine

Motorcycle ReviewsDucati has done well for itself by continually creating new models from existing platforms over the years. So when the latest-generation Ducati Hypermotard in both standard and SP version-debuted to rave reviews around the world, we expected that Ducati was going to figure out another way to utilize the new 821cc liquid-cooled desmo engine and steel-tube trellis frame with single-sided swingarm. But we have to admit we weren't expecting the Ducati Hyperstrada.

Billed by Ducati as 'a unique and innovative motorcycle, which represents a kind of crossover between the Motard world and that of Touring,' the Ducati Hyperstrada attempts to straddle the gap between those two radically different motorcycling genres. The second-generation Testastretta 11º (with the eight-level DTC and three riding modes) and chassis (with adjustable ABS) from the Hypermotard transition to the Hyperstrada unchanged, with most of the differences centering on the ergonomics and extra touring-oriented accessories that come standard on the Hyperstrada.

The tubular handlebar is raised by 20mm, and a much flatter and more supportive seat aids in longer riding stints (while the seat height is still 851mm) A fairly tall fly screen sits atop the headlight assembly/instrument panel to help deflect some wind off the rider, and two 50-liter-capacity semi-hard saddlebags attach to the rear subframe, with a wider grab rail for the passenger and two 12-volt outlets for accessories.

The 2014 Triumph Bonneville T100 - Great Classic Bike

Motorcycle ReviewsIt has been a few years since I rode the Triumph Bonneville T100. This time it's the 2014 Triumph Bonneville T100. Not only is this upgraded with a extra kit – the new exhaust system now sounds much better. In Thailand many Triumph owners already know what great value the Bonneville T100 is. The Triumph Bonneville continues to be one of the best selling classic bike on the Thai motorcycle market.

I think I said once that anyone considering buying a cruiser would be mad not to ride the Triumph Bonneville T100, and if you not hear this before I will tell you again. It may not look as bad-ass, but ride and handling are far superior, as is performance. Most cruisers kill themselves breaking 0 to 100 in 5 seconds. That's because they generally weigh pretty heavy. The Triumph Bonneville T100 is just 227kg and gets at the legal Thai maximum speed under 5 seconds. In cruiser fashion, its weight is biased rearward with 126kg on the back so when braking you're well advised to give the foot pedal e decent prod. There may only be a single disc up front but it has good bite and feel, and when used together with the rear brake unit this slows the Triumph Bonneville T100 in a big hurry.
