I live in the US, and will be retiring in Thailand in 3 yrs. I tried to explain to my wife that it would be less expensive to buy a YZF R6 here and pay import fees for the bike, than buy one in Thailand. My company will pay for shipping of my house hold goods.

It is true, the Yamaha YZF-R6 is indeed much cheaper in the USA then in Thailand. But importing a YZF-R6 will be charged with 187% import duty, and getting your bike officially registered costs 60,000 Baht.
Then the 680,000 Baht for a Yamaha YZF-R6 (from a official Thai Yamaha dealer) is not that bad, also you get the full factory warranty...

Thank you, 187% is a huge mark up even with the used discount. I think I will just buy one now and sell it before I leave. I really want the bike. I'll just keep this info from my wife...:-)
