The Thai Board of Investment (BoI) has finally agreed that all motorcycles larger than 250cc will apply for BoI incentives.

Previous this incentives only applied for motorcycles up to 250cc and motorcycles bigger than 500cc, leaving a gap from 250 to 500cc.

With the new agreement we hope that Kawasaki also starts manufacturing the Ninja 300 in Thailand.

Of course the biggest beneficiary of this new agreement is Honda who manufacturers the CBR500R, CB500F, and CB500X in Thailand. This models officially did not meet the criteria for BoI incentives under the previous rules as they are in fact equipped with a 471cc engine.

Does that mean the Honda CBR500R will become cheaper? And how much cheaper?

I have the idea that Honda will likely not change the price of the big bikes in Thailand.

The current prices for the Honda 500cc models are as followed;

Honda CBR500R……………………………210,000 THB
Honda CB500F………………………………205,000 THB
Honda CB500X………………………………215,000 THB

I was told that the Honda Forza 300 scooter will cost 169,000 THB

... is it really worth for Kawa manufacturing the Ninja 300 when the new Ninja 250 is already available in Thailand and looks like +/- the same ?...

I have seen some tests comparing the 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 250R with the new 2013 Kawasaki Ninja 300, and the extra 50cc has apparently a very big influence on the handling and performance of the motorcycle.

Of course the Kawasaki Ninja 300 will always be more expensive than the Ninja 250. In some countries, like the USA, both the Kawasaki Ninja 250R and the Kawasaki Ninja 300 are currently available…

So if both the 250 and 300cc Kawasaki Ninja is available in the USA (and other countries) there is also a market in Thailand.

I did not know that both the 250 & 300 were available in the US

I did in fact go ahead & buy the 2013 250 here in Thailand & like it
But if the 300 came available I would probably grab it & sell the 250.

Same goes for if they ever brought the 636 here at a reasonable cost.
