The Triumph 1200 Tiger Explorer
Price in Thailand?
(Aren't they assembled in Thailand for the local market?)
USA base price is $15,699, i.e. about 471,000 baht!

The new Triumph 1200 Tiger Explorer is currently not available in Thailand, probably will take a month or two.
And my educated guess is that the price would more be something like 900,000 THB, Triumph manufactures some stuff here but I'm sure they're not producing the top models here...

The Triumph Tiger Explorer will be launched at an event in the Impact Arena exhibition center on 12 May (2012) at 17:00 hours.
Actual I think Triumph has a booth at the Super Car and Import Car Show 2012, Hall 8, Impact Arena, Muangthong Thani

More than double the price for the same bike in USA!
Thought so.
We sure are being screwed here.

Very clever comment.
Make any valid criticism here and 'leave the country' is the usual response, usually by those who don't mind being screwed.
BIKERS ARE GETTING SCREWED IN THAILAND.
AND 'NO' I WONT LEAVE THE COUNTRY. I WILL SIMPLY NOT BUY A BIG BIKE.

“You could always leave the country” is a bit a negative answer to a valid question. Yes, we know that we pay much more tax for imported 'big-bikes' still we not have to agree with that.

The Triumph Explorer is just over £11000 in the UK. Swingeing import duty on luxury goods is responsible for the high prices here. Not sure but I think that a bike has to have 80% of it`s value from parts produced in Thailand to avoid the big tax hit. As far as I know it is the Bonneville that is assembled at the Chonburi factory. Bit of a let down for Triumph`s customers to have the Union Jack waving heritage model bolted together in Asia but it`s all down to labour costs nowadays.
