Hi all,
Just a question, Are some of the prices of imported motorcycles expected to come down now that Thailand has a free trade agreement with other asean countrys?

I am coming to thailand in July for about 1 year and am looking to buy a motorbike for commuting and touring.
Im having a hard time deciding what to buy.
I would like a big bike 600cc or so but the kwakka ER6N is about the only one reasonably priced. Other bikes like yamaha etc cost much more in thailand than western countrys.
Im even considering a 125 scooter as hard to beat the price of these but it must be capable of 120km/h at least.
Being fit and about 70kg i think i should be able to find one suitable.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
cheers

First the ASEAN free-trade-agreement is limited to motorcycles, with a engine size not bigger then 250cc. So for larger engine motorcycles nothing will change.

Also Thailand has one of the strongest exhaust emission rules in ASEAN and therefore most motorcycles produced in other ASEAN countries cannot be registered as legal vehicles in Thailand.

And a potentially excellent bike for Thailand, the Kawasaki KLR650 which is made/assembled in Thailand is not available in Thailand because it is too 'dirty'!

oh ok i see,
I hope then that more manufacturers will start to make bikes in Thailand ( like Kawasaki do )
Can anyone give me the pros and cons of the kawazaki ninja 250 against honda vtr250
which one would be better suited to commuting and touring Thailand ?
Are their performance similar or is one more powerful than the other?.
