It started with an American announcement but the Yamaha YZF-R3 has been recalled across markets. In Thailand it is still unclear if any motorcycles will be recalled.
The problem is two-fold. First, a faulty bracket under the fuel tank could break from engine vibration, causing a dangerous fuel leak. The second is a faulty switch that could be corroded by water and could stall the ignition.
This is the second time the Yamaha YZF-R3 has been recalled. The manufacturer Yamaha India said ‘We have sent the word out promptly and addressed the problem publicly and that’s how it should be’.
If you own a Yamaha YZF-R3, contact your local dealer, and if your motorcycle is part of the recall, the parts will be replaced free of cost.
