Officially only the Suzuki VanVan 90 was sold in Japan (before 1972), the Suzuki Vanvan 125 was never officially launched in Japan. In Japanese language “Van Van” means “More More” and the original model was designed by Takeshi Osada. In the early ‘70s in the US the Suzuki VanVan 90 became pretty popular as the two-wheeled beach buggy that costed not that much.

The Suzuki VanVan 125 (introduced in 1972), which looks still like the original design with small wheels was only introduced to the US market, and some found their way back into Japan as parallel imported motorcycle.

In 2003 Suzuki introduced worldwide the Suzuki VanVan 125 (RV125) as the model we know it in Thailand. The Suzuki VanVan 125 was now also launched in several European countries. In 2007 the Suzuki VanVan 125 was upgraded with fuel injection, and some other minor upgrades mostly to pass new European and the California (USA) exhaust emission rules.

In November 2015 Suzuki introduced for the first time ever a Suzuki VanVan with an engine that is bigger than 125cc. The Suzuki VanVan 200 (RV200) is powered by a 199cc single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled four-stroke engine.
