On several other Thai forums I can read that Kawasaki is moving some of their motorcycle production from Japan to Thailand. Why do I not read anything about this on this website?

Hello KawaBoy,

We also where very surprised by the news, that Kawasaki would move motorcycle production from Japan to Thailand, and we quickly found that the story was based on an article in the Yomiuri Shimbun (Japan) Newspaper.

After we contacted Kawasaki for details we received a press release within a few hours. "The Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun drew incorrect conclusions from comments regarding future KHI production planning. The information carried by them was unattributed and does not reflect current company intent..."

In the recent past Kawasaki has changed the plans of its Kawasaki manufacturing facility several times, therefore we cannot tell if this rumour is completely baseless... Only the future can tell us the complete story.

Kawasaki confuse me!

Firstly they have great bikes which they withhold from the Thai market
(eg KLR650, KLX450) on the grounds that these are too 'dirty' to pass
the 'strict Thai emission laws'. Yet they have fuel injection on their other bikes
which, I presume, could be adapted to 'clean up' the 450 and 650.

They tell me 'Thais are not interested in big bikes', yet they have their ER-N
etc available!

There must be another reason why, especially in the case of the KLR650,
they are not making it available in Thailand.

Any thoughts?
