It's interesting to see how the figure of an official research can differ from input on a motorcycle forum...

In the official statistics which was based on insurance and dealer information about 60 percent of all motorcycle riders fall one time or another. Statistics on our forum show that most of you never have fallen with the motorcycle...

The average number of crashes, according to the poll, in a 3 year periode is 0.788785. The ratio of people who crashed versus the people answered is 306 / 1070 ~ 0,28. I.e. you will have approximately a 28% chance of crashing in any 3 year periode. In two periodes (6 years), this inflates to ~49% and in three periodes (9 years) it's up to 64%. In four periodes (12 years) you have a chance of crashing of ~81%. According to the poll ofc. Assuming people driver bikes for about 10 years when/if they give it up, the chance of crashing, according to the poll is somewhere between 64% and 81% -- even higher than the insurance and dealer information.
