I've hit a plank on my Suzuki DR-Z400 and knackered the front wheel. There's a ding in one side of the rim about 4 to 5 cm long and it's pushed the edge about 1cm out of line.

The other side's damaged too but not so badly. The tyre's not gone down but I don't want to ride the bike. Can I get it fixed? A new wheel is expensive.

You have several options, you could go to a regular Thai repair shop, most of them are experts in repairing damaged rims. Also in the worst case scenario you only need to buy a new rim.
