The Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401
Husqvarna has unveiled the production version of the Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 which both are based on the KTM 390 Duke platform.
For the ones who don’t know, Husqvarna is currently owned by KTM boss Stefan Pierer, and KTM as a company in which India Bajaj Auto has a stack. The new Husqvarna motorcycles have been sculpted from the Vitpilen 401 concept, which was unveiled at the EICMA motorcycle show back in 2014.
The two new motorcycles feature a round shaped LED head-lamp outlined with daytime running lamps and a contemporary street fighter look. According to Husqvarna, the Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 have been made to provide a pure riding experience.
If features a single-cylinder 375cc engine housed in a stripped down steel-trellis frame. The engine and the frame are borrowed from the KTM 390 Duke. The engine produces 43 horsepower and 37Nm of torque paired to a six-speed transmission.
According to some inside information, Stefan Pierer will also use KTM distributors to bring the new Husqvarna motorcycles to markets where Husqvarna is currently not represented.
