The Honda CRF250M - The 250cc Supermoto

Last weekend we looked a the Honda CRF250M, which is basically the supermoto version of the popular dual-purpose CRF250L.

The Honda CRF250M utilizing the same liquid-cooled, DOHC single cylinder engine as the CRF250L, the Honda CRF250M sits 20mm lower due to revised all-round suspension with heavier weight springs, and gets an upgraded larger 296mm floating front disc, plus 17 inch wheels with wider profile road tires, in this case IRC Road Winners.

Putting the Honda CRF250M through its pages around a tight and twisky go-kart track was great fun

As you'd expect, you could flick-flack easily through the tight corners, and riding the Honda CRF250M supermoto style (foot out, weight to the outside of the seat), was the best way to exploit the nimble handling. The claimed 145 kilogram kerb weight also made it easy to handle it, even though the seat is relatively tall at 855mm, due to the motorcycle's slimness and the amount the suspension compresses when you climb aboard, it's not a deal breaker for shorter riders.

For everyday use, the 7.7 liter fuel tank should be good for 242 kilometers (claims Honda), and that revised gearing should make the Honda CRF250M better at higher speeds. The sidestand has also been shortened due to the CRF250M sitting lower than the CRF250L; this may seem a tiny thing but nothing is more annoying (and potentially embarrassing) than a too-long stand.

The Honda CRF250M adds another good motorcycle to Honda's range.
