The Benelli 750cc Naked-Bike is a Twin
The revelation of the new Benelli 750cc triple-cylinder was likely wrong. In internal Benelli documents named as the BJ750GS, suggesting it was a 750cc machine rather than a 900cc or 1130cc model like the existing three-cylinder models. Now it seems those documents were not completely accurate.
The Benelli bosses have already confirmed the company is developing a new 750cc twin-cylinder, and this motorcycle is equipped with a 750cc. The engine is bolted to a steel trellis frame with a tubelar steel swingarm and what looks like Marzocchi forks similar to the BN600R. The radial brakes are Benelli-branded, and the styling is simple and look pretty good. In an era of increasingly complex angular-shaped motorcycles the flowing tank lines an minimal rear bodywork are refreshingly straightforward.
Elements like the swingarm-mounted rear plate hanger and LED lights and indicators are up-to-date, and the slim exhaust silencer, neatly tucked tight against the swingarm, manages to hide the bulky collector box and catalytic converter.
The 750cc parallel twin-cylinder motorcycle is set to be the largest of the Chinese-built Benelli's. The higher-capacity, three-cylinder models will continue to come from the Italian factory, while all models up to and including the new 750cc will be manufactured in China.
That's not the stigma it once was, and with any luck it will simply help reduce costs and allow Benelli to offer competitively priced motorcycle models in the lower-capacity market.
