The BMW S1000XR - Adventure Sport Bike
The engine of the BMW S1000XR is the same as that found in the S1000R naked-bike, pushing 160 horsepower and and 112Nm of torque, with focus being on rideability rather out-and-out power. It also comes with the usual array of electronic gixmos, such as ABS, Automatic Stability Control, Dynamic Traction Control, two rider modes as standard with an additional two as options, clutchless shifting up and down (optional) and Electronic Suspension Adjustment.
While the base from which BMW has used is that of a superbike, that should undoubtedly also deli8ver a fat dollop of sportiness and handling, there is also a strong element of comfort, with BMW equipping the motorcycle with high and wide handlebars, lower footpegs and a proper screen.
The suspension has 150mm front and 140mm rear suspension travel, meaning it has more than the traditional road going motorcycle but less than the full-on adventure bikes, meaning that is should manage the bumps on more out of the way roads but, together with the 17-inch alloy cast wheels, should probably stick to those of the hard surface variety.
The BMW S1000XR also comes with the usual BMW display, giving the rider a plethora of technical goods to play during the trip. Also, there is the usual BMW array of optional extras, including luggage and more creature comforts.
The price tag for the BMW S1000XR is as usual at the high side of the market, but for 1,150,000 THB you get something you will enjoy for a long time.
