The Aprilia MotoGP Team
The new Aprilia RS-GP machines made their debut at Losail in early March at the final IRTA tests before the 2016 MotoGP season opened. Riders were the very experienced Italian Alvaro Bautista and German Stefan Bradl, who both reported to be impressed by the current performance of their new machine under their experienced Aprilia Racing Manager Romano Albestino.
Details of the new Aprilia RS-GP machine are impressive with the V4 ‘narrow’ 81mm bore engine featuring a counter rotating crankshaft and pneumatic valve distribution. Electronics include a Magneti Marelli ECU and Dorna software, lubrication is dry sump and transmission is via the Aprilia Racing upshift/downshift seamless 6-speed cassette. Current output the engine is an eye watering 250 horsepower.
Frame and swingarm are aluminum and suspension as you would expect by Ohlins, Brembo brake systems are used with twin front 320 or 340mm carbon discs and a single 255mm steel unit at the rear. Tires are of course Michelin. And although they haven’t been tearing it up at the front of the pack, they’re still putting in some very positive performance. The Aprilia MotoGP team currently holds the 5th position in the MotoGP Manufacturers Standings.Tag: Aprilia MotoGP Racing Team Alvaro Bautista Stefan Bradl Romano Albestino Brembo Ohlins Magneti Marelli RS-GP
