The All-New Suzuki GSX-R150 Now Available
The new Suzuki GSX-R150, which is essentially a completely newly developed fully faired 150cc sportbike. When we looked at the engine specification on paper we had doubts about the performance, the engine is the smallest, only 147.3cc, compared to the Honda CBR150R and Yamaha YZF-R15. When we first rode the GSX-R150, we came back impressed. The 147.3cc single-cylinder, DOHC valve, liquid-cooled engine was smooth and revved freely, while the chassis resulted in a motorcycle that handled exceedingly well.
The designers of the Suzuki GSX-R150 have clearly borrowed some design futures from the latest Suzuki GSX-R1000. Just looking at the motorcycle and you will directly see that it’s a GSX-R family member the DNA is unmistakably present.
To start with, the motorcycle's chassis was outstanding and, as a result, endowed the GSX-R150 with amazing handling characteristics. While we were impressed by the motorcycle’s dynamic abilities when we first rode it on some twisty roads, the impression was reinforced when we took the GSX-R150 on a kart racing track. On that run, the motorcycle’s handling prowess came to the fore with its ability to inspire confidence through every turn, sweeper or switchback. It felt equally stable at speed on long straights we traversed once we were back on the open road. Such dynamic abilities are great to have in a small sportbike…
It’s interesting to say that the Suzuki GSX-R150, with its full weight of only 131 kilogram is the lightest full faired 150cc class sportbike available in Thailand.
The Suzuki GSX-R150’s engine, too is a great asset. The engine construction is solid and compact. The engine has a high compression ratio of 11.5:1, Suzuki engineers keep the piston cool by injecting oil against the underside of the piston – Suzuki calls this SJCS (Suzuki Jet Cooling System). The fueling is by a modern fuel injection system and works excellent.
The only head scratching part about the Suzuki GSX-R150 is the recommended fuel use, Suzuki recommend that RON91 fuel for this motorcycle, but with the high compression ratio you should think that a RON95 would be more appropriate...
