The 2017 Kawasaki Versys-X 300 - Small Adventure Bike
What would happen if you let the design team of the Versys 650 play around with a Ninja 300 engine? Kawasaki gave us the answer to that with the Kawasaki Versys-X 300 in Milan.
This entry-level Versys in the Kawasaki line-up exhibits the styling of a proper mini adventure bike paired with long travel suspension and spoked 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel, while the 296cc parallel-twin engine is carried over from the Kawasaki Ninja 300. Though power figures haven’t been revealed, it is expected to lean more toward fuel efficiency and torque production than the current 300cc sportbike’s 39 horsepower and 27Nm torque output.
The chassis and bodywork are all new and designed to provide a comfortable ride over tricky terrain.
Features include a multi-function LCD display with gear position indicator (a first for Kawasaki’s 300cc models) and an aluminum rear carrier. ABS is standard, as is a slipper clutch, and the Kawasaki Versys-X 300 sits on a 31mm telescopic fork and gas-charged Uni-Trak monoshock.
The Kawasaki Versys-X 300 even comes with two optional customization packs; Urban Pack – which includes hand guards, a tank pad, a center stand, and a 30-liter top box – and the Adventure Pack – which sees a center stand, tank pad, tubular engine guards, and 17 liter panniers thrown in..
