The 2016 Suzuki GSX-RR MotoGP Bike
But where most manufacturers in MotoGP racing have been chasing power, Suzuki have concentrated on getting a well-balanced, fine-handling motorcycle with an innovative chassis that provides flex while leant over but is stiff for braking.
After modest run of results in 2015 for Maverick Vinales and Aleix Espargaro, Vinales has had an impressive 2016, getting on the podium in France.
The Suzuki GSX-RR uses very thin carbon-fiber blades to stiffen the engine mounts while keeping the motorcycle narrow and allowing air through the radiator. And now they are slowly adding the power, after suffering engine failures early in the motorcycle’s development. At Mugello the GSX-RR was faster through the speed trap than the Yamaha YZR-M1.
Suzuki struggled last year with their own electronic control unit, but the motorcycle benefited from the rule that now makes everyone use the same ECU (Engine Control Unit). This season it also got a seamless gearbox, which allows the rider to shift up a gear without any cut to the drive. With the Suzuki GSX-RR getting better all the time and Maverick getting faster, the Suzuki could get more podium positions his year.Tag: Suzuki GSX-RR MotoGP Racing Inline-Four Maverick Vinales Aleix Espargaro Horsepower DOHC
