The Suzuki GSX-R1000 K11 - Introduced in Thailand
It's maybe true that you can find faster race track machines, but no-one is going to make it go faster on the road than the Suzuki GSX-R1000 K11. For average blokes like us, who spend most of their time scratching, it is all you could ever need. In fact, the Suzuki GSX-R1000 K11 is almost become a victim of its own success. Because the GSX-R1000 is so composed at 90% and it takes an empty road and a lot off courage to use that amount of engine power on the road, smaller capacity motorcycle can sometimes feel more rewarding. Make no mistake, the GSX-R1000 is the most devastatingly capable road bike on the planet.
Powered by a 999cc, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, 4-cylinder, DOHC (16-valves) engine, with a compression ratio of 12.8:1 and capable of producing more than 190 horsepower.
For a start, the Suzuki GSX-R1000 K11 is the fastest accelerating stock motorcycle we've tested in a long time. The K11 has gained a headier, sharper peak. It's definitely more exciting, and equally effective. IT also makes it more forgiving engine. With less tire squirming torque in the midrange it creates the illusion of there being more mechanical grip from the rear. I certainly don't remember being quite as aggressive with my other motorcycle's throttle whilst carrying lots of lean.
The GSX-R1000 K11 is no screamer though, there is still plenty of playful grunt left. It won't clutch up at 210 km/h in fourth, the old K5 party trick, but it still jumps up in third at over 10,000rpm. Wheelies are ballistic though. In A-mode, the most aggressive of the three adjustable engine maps, the speed builds alarmingly. During one healthy effort the speedo indicated a fairly cheeky 243km/h as the front wheel hit the deck, smoking like a aircraft touch-down. Even at these speeds the Suzuki GSX-R1000 K11 was totally composed on just one of its wheels. Flick the beast in B-mode, and the softer mapping helps you to play with slow and high monos as readily. The machine does everything with consummate ease.
The Suzuki GSX-R1000 K11's steering is the best we'd experienced for the last few years. The K11 is swifter to change direction despite its weight, yet it's also sweeter and more confidence inspiring than ever. The neutral response ensures totally natural feel. The brake and slipper clutch set-up is also as good as it gets right now.
And the best part is that the Suzuki Gsx-R1000 K11 is from February 2011 officially available in Thailand for 799,000 Baht.As promotion Suzuki Thailand includes in the price - registration fee, First Class insurance (worth over 18,000 Bht) and a gift voucher worth 30,000 Bht which can be used at the Suzuki Pro Shop to buy accessories or motorcycle gear like a motorcycle suit, helmet, or other gear.
