SWM Motorcycles Back in Business
SWM motorcycles has returned with a range of motorcycles, including for the first time road models. The iconic brand made famous in the seventies and eighties has been resurrected by a partnership between Italy and China. One nation brings the passion the other the business drive – you can guess which one brings what.
It also appears to bring together a pile of stock from the the old Husqvarna factory in Italy. It doesn't take much motorcycle knowledge to work out the enduro models are revamped Husqvarnas from a couple of years ago, before KTM boss Stefan Pierer bought Husqvarna.
So in effect the new SWM RS300R and RS500R Enduro models are rebooted/re-branded Husqvarna's – which doesn't say much because the old TE models were getting a bit long in the tooth.
But there's some cool in here somewhere and if investors Shineray Group have the money to at least upgrade or replace the dated engines, SWN stands a chance of making a sustainable comeback.
