The Royal-Enfield Himalayan - February 2016 Launch

After months of photograph leaks -cynics suggest clever marketing rather than sloppy security was responsible – the Royal Enfield Himalayan is about to come out and meet the public. The date is 2 February, 2016. While there is speculation whether it is a commercial launch, we have confirmation that Royal Enfield does not intend to announce prices or formally open bookings on the day.

What it will do, is unveil the motorcycle and ride the wave of adventure bike launches worldwide and gain popularity with its simple but useful design and specifications.

The string of leaks has left little to the imagination when it comes to the motorcycle. The Royal Enfield Himalayan employs a completely new engine, a new frame configuration as well as a new positioning with the Royal Enfield family. The engine is expected to be the all-new 410cc single-cylinder that will go on to power other platform partners in time. We expect the Royal Enfield Himalayan to make an unstressed 30 horsepower and around 40Nm of peak torque with a new 6-speed gearbox.

The engine is mounted on a double-cradle frame with longer travel front suspension. The rear is a monoshock which means that even if the frame is an evolution of the Royal Enfield Continental GT cradle, it'll be different enough to be called all-new. The latest round of spy shots shows a fully loaded motorcycle wearing aluminum panniers as well as a pair of 5-liter Rotopax fuel packs. We expect the panniers, the Rotopax containers and many other elements to appear on the accessories list for the motorcycle at the worldwide launch.

We expect the Royal Enfield Himalayan to be the most expensive of all the company's motorcycles. Of course when we know any additional information regarding the Royal Enfield Himalayan Thai launch date or prices we will keep everybody informed.
