Husaberg and Husqvarna will Merge

Husaberg will enter its final year of independent operation in 2014 before officially reuniting with Husqvarna for the release of the 2015 models and beyond after a 25-year separation.

Swedish brand Husaberg was founded in 1988 after Husqvarna was purchased by Italian company Cagiva, as a number of engineers remained in Sweden and introduced the stand-alone brand. It was later sold to KTM in 1995.

KTM CEO Stefan Pierer's company Pierer Industrie AG acquired Husqvarna Motorcycles from BMW Motorrad in Januray 2013. Now, a new group company, Husqvarna Sportmotorcycle GmbH, has been frmed and will be fully operational by October 2013, based in Mattighofen, Austria.
'Following the acquisition of Husqvarna by Pierer Industries AG and after careful analysis and evaluation of all aspects, it was decided to reunite what came out of shared roots 25 years ago,' the announcement from Husqvarna stated.

'In other words, Husqvarna will enter a positive new era by combining its own rich heritage with Husaberg's state-of-the-art technology. The new lineup with brand-new exclusive design and the latest technology is being developed and will be offered in the segments Enduro, Motocross and Sportminicycles.'

It's anticipated that the all-new Husqvarnas, including a Supermoto range, will be unveiled during October and presented at the international EICMA show in Milan in early November.

The release also confirmed that parts supply and customer service for all Husqvarna models up to and including model year 2013 are guaranteed for the years to come and will remain at the current business location in Biandronno, Italy.

Husaberg has since unveiled its 2014 range, which will mark the final opportunity to purchase the brand's models before aligning with Husqvarna.
