The Honda RC213V-S Street Legal MotoGP Bike

And you thought that the Ducati Desmosedici MotoGP bike with headlights was expensive at nearly 3 million Thai Bath? Honda has just released details of its equivalent, the Honda RC213V-S (the S for Street), and it will set you back at least double that amount. That's before optioning the Sport (think:Race) kit which takes power from 160 horsepower to over 200 horsepower...

The Honda RC213V-S, is based on the Honda RC213V that Marc Marquez rode in the 2013 and 2014 MotoGP world championships, only without the trick stuff like pneumatic valves and seamless shift gearbox. But Honda reckons 80 percent of bits from the race bike end up on the street machine, of which it is suggested 250 will be made each year

Components common to both machines include the swingarm, the slipper clutch, the 17-inch magnesium wheels, the forks, adjustable footrests and foot controls, and most of the Brembo brake components.
Powering the Honda RC213V-S is a compact 90-degree 999xx V4 with titanium connecting rods. It also has a by-wire throttle, selectable power modes, engine-brake control. The base machine makes 117kW (150 horsepower) at 11,000rpm – beaten by all the corrent superbikes! - but for an extra 500,000 THB or so there's a Sports kit which takes output to 158kW minimum (215 horsepower) at 13,000rpm. Torque rises from 102 to 119Nm, both at 10,500rpm. Wet weight is 188 kilograms standard, 177 kilograms in Sports kit trim.

Honda says the Honda RC213V-S replicates the handling prowess of the MotoGP bike, but not the power. So it's more about cornering finesse than straight line velocity. Brakes are steel, by Brembo, suspension is by Ohlins both ends, the top TTX25/36 models, and the bodywork s carbon fiber.
