The BMW F800ST, Sport Touring Much More Fun
There has been complaints leveled at the suspension for being too soft but anyone with some BMW experience will soon reassure you that this is the German way, smooth and complaint and yet very effective at keeping the tires in contact with the pavement.
All you need to do is get on the BMW F800ST and point it to the right direction, there is little to do or worry about as BMW really have thought of everything.
The BMW F800ST brochure containing the factory options for the F800ST is a thick one indeed, all sorts of bolt on accessories are available from your BMW dealer, on board computers, BMW Motorrad ABS, Alarm, different seat-heights, and a very comprehensive range of factory luggage too. This makes the BMW F800ST a tempting choice if looking for a good reliable and solid workhorse, a machine capable of the daily grind, or a spin across neighboring countries, all in great style, and relative low cost too thanks to the frugal twin cylinder engine.
The BMW F800ST is powered by a liquid-cooled, 4-stroke in-line two-cylinder engine, two overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder with dry sump lubrication, 798cc engine. With a claimed output of 85 horsepower at 8,000rpm, with a maximum torque of 86Nm at 5,800 rpm. With this specifications the BMW F800ST is easily capable of speeds excessing 200km/h.BMW makes big bikes right? Well yes, they do, but they have made a great job of making some smaller ones too.
Again it's hard to fault the BMW F800ST in any of its guises, the ride, the power, the style are all spot on not matter the price although for almost 800,000 Baht some of the metal work and fittings could be a little better. Poor quality nickel cadmium bolts do corrode easily in Thai weather. Still, it's only a few bolts here and there and nothing major to worry about or hard to replace either, to our experience most motorcycle manufacturers often use low quality bolts on the machines.
