The 2016 Indian Chief Dark Horse - Darkness Comes to Thailand

Ever since the Indian Motorcycle brand was revived by Polaris Industries in 2011, it's been a treat to witness not only Polaris' vision of the Indian name, but the return of some of the marque's well-known motorcycles. For the upcoming year, Indian Motorcycle has directed the spotlight onto its Chief family with the 2016 Indian Chief Dark Horse leading next year's lineup.

On the surface, the Indian Dark Horse's main divergence from the other Chiefs: the color scheme. The chrome, a major component in the other Chiefs' design, has, for the most part, been stripped, leaving just a dab of the shiny metal behind to accentuate the Indian Chief Dark out, throwing the motorcycle even further into the dark abyss. By itself, the black palette is an already stunning contrast to last year's update to its brother, the Indian Chief Classic and Vintage, which received duo paint combos that embellish Indian's classic heritage.
While still armed with the 49-degree Thunder Stroke 111 V-Twin engine wrapped in the same chassis and suspension as seen on the Chief Classic, the Dark Horse's chief quality, besides aesthetics, is its dynamic oomph over its brothers. The Indian Dark Horse is the lightest Chief yet (just over 340 kilograms, while the Vintage weighs in at 365 kilograms and the Chief Classic coming in at 353 kilograms) and it's more compact. This has given the manufacturer leverage to claim that the Indian Dark Horse is the fastest Chief yet, even though the torque stays the same, 161.6 Nm at 3,000 rpm.

The Indian Chief Dark Horse in an effort to promote the motorcycle's added aggressive appeal, also loses the oil cooler, analogue fuel gauge, and driving lights seen on the Classic, but still maintains reliable amenities (ABS, a remote key for keyless ignition, electronic cruise control). For those who want to personalize their Indian Dark Horse, various passenger add-on's and other accessories will be available through the Indian Motorcycle Accessory catalog to help black out the scene.Tag: Indian Dark-Horse Cruiser V-Twin Chief Classic Thunder-Stroke Vintage ABS Tourer
