The 2015 BMW S1000RR - Lighter and More Power

The BMW S1000RR get more horsepower! It's got less weight! BMW has re-profilied the heads and the camshaft. The intake valves have been lightened, the airbox capacity modified and the intake shortened. The changes plus the modified exhaust system equate to six horsepower gain according to BMW.

Remember BMW was very modest when it came to a claimed power figure on the first generation BMW S1000RR, so when it says that the 2015 BMW S1000RR is 199 horsepower you can bet your money's worth that someone will be handed a 200 horsepower dyno chart from their stock 2015 BMW S!000RR before long.

The chassis has been lightened and the geometry optimized. The aim was to offer increased lean angle and more agility. The DDC suspension makes the options list, rather than the standard fit list, but when you look at the numbers (204kg ready to ride) and 199 horsepower, it's clear to see that owners are buying into a very special motorcycle indeed. Completely restyled bodywork shrouds updated headlights and will be available in M sport colors, blue/white and metallic black.

The same three riding modes exist on the 2015 BMW S1000RR (Rain, Sport and Race), but if the Pro riding mode is selected, owners have launch control and a programmable pit lane speed limiter available. Yes, you'll be able to ride down the high street with motorcycle coughing like a Grand Prix bike heading up pit lane. The new Race ABS unit comes as standard, as does the DTC (dynamic traction control).
