The 2014 KTM 1290 Super Duke R - Muscular Power
The 2014 KTM 1290 Super Duke R, with 180 horsepower on tap this is the most powerful naked production motorcycle in the world. Liquid-cooled, 1,301cc V-twin. That engine cranks out 180 real horsepower and 143Nm of maximum torque. The motorcycle weights only 189kg and will get from 0 to 200km/h in 7.2 seconds. Which is certifiable insane. And exactly what this much anticipated 2014 KTM 1290 Super Duke R is all about. And, of course, given what our 'regular' KTM Dukes are capable of, this package will prove to be anything but tame when you turn the throttle open.IF you think all that power cloaked in its minimalist bodywork will make this motorcycle hard to control, don't worry, the KTM 1290 Super Duke R has the safety and technology to balance out the exhilaration. It comes with Brembo M50 calipers and 320mm discs with ABS, and has a trick ride-by-wire traction control system, which can be adjusted between Rain, Street, Sport and Supermoto.
The Rain setting will offer smooth but slightly limited power, with early-intervention traction control; Street makes the motorcycle sporty but effective and super-swift; Sport makes full power available; and then there's Supermoto mode, which disables the rear ABS and lets the rider have some fun.
Want one? Well, you have to wait till the official launch at the 2013 EICMA motor show in Milan, Italy.. And even then you probably have to wait a bit longer before the new KTM 1290 Super Duke R will be available at your Thai KTM dealer.
