Indian Motorcycles has recalled all Chief models built before 10 June to a to a possible fire risk. The global recall affects all Thunder Stroke 111-powered models sold in Thailand. In these motorcycles, unburned fuel can be routed into the exhaust system, thus increase exhaust temperatures.
Motorcycles include the Chief Classic, Chief Darkhorse, Chief Vintage, Chieftain, Chieftain Darkhorse, Springfield adn Roadmaster. The Scout is not affected. Indian parent company Polaris was not willing to disclose the number of motorcycles affected or whether there had been any reported incidents. Affected owners have been notified.
