The borrowed Suzuki GSX-R600 is getting home

After 2500 kilometer my trusty Suzuki GSX-R600 has been returned to it rightful owner. So, would I own one myself?

While I have been very impressed by the Suzuki GSX-R600 the fact of the matter is if I was buying one I would opt for the Suzuki GSX-R750. It has all the GSX-R600's good bits, but with a bit more mid-range. Perfect.

That's not to say the Suzuki GSX-R600 isn't worth considering, the GSX-R600 has genuinely surprised me with its usability. Most of the kilometers I have done has been commuting within Bangkok, and the direct surroundings. The fact it has easily dealt with this mundane task speaks volumes of both the GSX-R600's engine and the comfort of the Suzuki. Unlike some of the current 600cc's the Suzuki GSX-R600 can happily be ridden below 7000rpm.On miserable days when you're tired and just want to get home this is a godsend. It really has proved to be a very good commuter.

It's not perfect. The gearbox is a bit stiff at low revs; at high revs it's far slicker. And there is the snatch in the fuel injection. Anyone owning a Suzuki GSX-R600 I would recommend adding a aftermarket can, the 10 horsepower gain in the midrange is very impressive.

Unfortunately the constant threat of theft or damage has ruined the Suzuki GSX-R600 experience for me. The insurance did not cover theft or damage to the bike, and the rightful owner would be extremely upset to say it mildly. The Paranoia has limited the way I've been able to use the bike, which has limited where I go. But that's the catch with all modern sport bikes.
