The Kawasaki ZXR400, as Used-Motorcycle
The Kawasaki ZXR400 will make you feel special. This 398cc, 16-valve DOHC, in-line four is truly more than capable of embarrassing bigger machines. The feel of the top-end power rush, the compact riding position and the hard suspension give the ZXR a hardcore racer feeling.
The Kawasaki ZXR400 was in the market until 2003 so official parts aren't hard to come by. Servicing is unavoidable – the carburetors need synchronizing and valve clearances checking or it'll run extremely bad. The radiator and fairing brackets are the fist casualties in most crashes, so look for bent or repairs. And it's still a popular race motorcycle, so beware of ex-racers.
The known problems with the Kawasaki ZXR400 can be found in the camshaft-chain tensioner, which rattles when the engine is cold. The camshaft-chain tensioner is an easy fix if you catch it before it creates bigger problems. For parts the problems will cost you something between 4,500 to 5,000 Baht.
