The Ducati 959 Panigale - The Showstopper
The showstopper at the 37th Bangkok International Motor Show is undoubtedly the Ducati Panigale 959. First shown at EICMA last year, the Ducati Panigale 959 is an update from the Panigale 899 and is now larger than its predecessor both in terms of dimension and cubic engine capacity.Design-wise the Ducati Panigale 959 carries cues from the Ducati Panigale 1299 and its predecessor, the 899 Panigale. Powering the Ducati 959 Panigale is a new 955cc Superquadro L-Twin engine that has grown by 58cc by increasing the stroke, which is now similar to the 1299 Panigale.
To accommodate this, the engine gets a redesigned crankshaft and conrods. The Superquadro engine gets new cylinder heads and casing, and a reworked gearbox.
The new 955cc L-Twin engine has been tuned to put out 155 horsepower and 107Nm of torque, a massive improvement of 6 percent more power and 8 percent more torque than the Ducati 899 Panigale.
Feature-wise the Ducati 959 Panaigale gets a slipper clutch, Ride-by-Wire, ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Quick Shift and engine Brake Control.
