The BMW F800R, the New Middleweight Bike
Now, BMW Thailand is considering to join the naked-standard ring with the new BMW F800R, the latest member of its strong-selling 800cc parallel-twin platform. With adventurous styling and the highest power output of any F800 yet, this new naked roadster would be a welcome addition to both the F-series lineup and the Thai middleweight standard class.
An all-new exhaust system and revised engine-management settings produce a claimed 87 real horses from this four-valve, 798cc parallel-twin – 2 more horses than the half-faired BMW F800S. A revised linkage makes throttle response even more precise and easy to modulate, while shorter fourth through sixth gear improve acceleration at higher speeds.
The main frame is identical to the S-model, but the single-sided swingarm and belt final drive are replaced here with a conventional cast-alloy swingarm and chain final drive.
ABS is optional of the BMW F800R, a revised version of the Brembo system with a new pressure sensor that facilitates even more finely regulated response. Optional, are BMW's extensive body accessories and the choice of a short or tall saddle.
