The Stallions Centaur Sport Classic - The Retro 150cc


The Stallions Centaur Sport Classic marks an interesting entry from the Thai motorcycle manufacturer in the retro classic sport motorcycle segment, an upcoming market in Thai motorcycle sales. The Stallions Centaur is powered by a single-cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke engine with a displacement of 147cc, with around 14 horsepower (real) at the rear wheel and 13.2Nm torque to play with.

The Stallions Centaur Sport Classic is a commuter motorcycle with classic / retro, with modern safety standards, styling that will attract a wide range of takers. This new Stallions motorcycle uses strong classic spoked wheels with black rims, the engine and most frame and suspension parts are all-black look.

The overall design of the Stallions Centaur Sport Classic is probably best described as a café racer look, with round headlight and single-dial speedometer and handlebar style the Stallions Centaur Sport Classic makes for a very pleasant riding position. The analog speedometer didn't quite excite us, although prominent, it does its job and is very clear at a glance.

The well-padded café racer style seat is flowing smoothly from the Stallions Centaur's rounded fuel tank all the way to the alloy grab bar above the tail light. The Stallions Centaur Sport Classic feels well built, with good overall quality, attention-to-detail and nice fit and finish.

The 150cc engine is more than powerful to propel the 132kg motorcycle safely through traffic. The 150cc engine feels refined and smooth at all times, and runs vibration free through its broad power spread, with adequate throttle response.

The Stallions Centaur uses a precise, 5-speed gearbox. The wet multi-plate clutch feels pleasntly light, as required in urban riding conditions. Stopping the Centaur Sport Classic is also no problem with the front hydraulic single-disc brake and rear drum brake.

Stallions Motorcycles new Centaur Sport Classic ticks all the appropriate senses, doing a silently efficient job riding across town. This may not make a perfect choice of a150cc motorcycle for someone looking for a real sportsbike, but that isn't what the Stallions Centaur Sport Classic was made to achieve.

The sensibly-priced Stallions Centaur Sport Classic has what it takes to make it a good choice for first motorcycle, comfortable and light handling that will make a capable motorcycle companion for daily commuting.
