International MV Agusta and Harley-Davidson Meeting
The meeting will celebrate the return of Harley-Davidson in Schiranna. In fact, on the 8th of August Harley-Davidson acquired MV Agusta and Cagiva, becoming owner of the company that was once under its control exactly 30 years ago.
As always foreign participation will be strong: Aermacchi Club France will be present, and the president of the Aermacchi Club Holland Jaap de Jong will head a numerous group of riders that will undertake the journey from Amsterdam on their Macchi machines. Groups from Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Austria will also attend
The meeting will open on Saturday 6th of September in the MV Agusta parking lot where participants will be able to register.
Sunday the 7th will be dedicated to the display of historical and present-day MV Agusta and Cagiva motorcycles at the company factory. The local scenic motorcycle tour (approx. 40km) will start at 11:00 o'clock and will reach some of the best roads in the Varese area. Lunch will be held after the tour and will include a toast in the honour of Canzio Tosi, multi-time Italian Off-road Champion, to which the 14th meeting will be dedicated to.
MV Agusta is a legendary name in the motorcycling world. It has in particular dominated international racing for many years, winning no less than 75 world championship titles. MV Agusta's 12 wins in 1956, as well as John Surtees' triumph in the 500cc world championship earned MV Agusta international acclaim. However, it was in the 1970s that the brand reached its peak with the star driver Giacomo Agostini, who dominated motorcycling competition for almost a decade in the 350cc and 500cc categories.
Above and beyond this impressive track record, MV Agusta is chiefly renowned for the refinement and aesthetic appeal of its prestigious motorcycles, now developed in the CRC research centre. It is this same centre that develops highly exclusive models specially designed and produced in limited series.
