The Honda Three-Wheeler to Rival the Yamaha Tricity
Yamaha is there with the Tricity 125 and the not so long ago announced Tricity 155 and Yamaha has even plans to expand the three-wheeler with larger engines, while Honda has also hinted that it's following suit, showing the NeoWing concept scooter last year.
As well as the Honda NeoWing, which might well reach production in some form, Honda has been working on the NC750 engine and chassis. But a new patent shows that Honda is also developing a scooter to directly compete with the Piaggio MP3 and the Yamaha Tricity.
Like both the Yamaha Tricity and Piaggio MP3, the Honda design is based on a parallelogram leaning system at the front, and the suspension itself is via leading-link, similar to that of the Piaggio MP3, instead of the Yamaha Tricity's telescopic forks…
Where Honda's design differs is that the lower link of the parallelogram, mounted below the one-piece top suspension mount, is made in two wishbone-shaped halves, both pivoting on a common axis.
Its rivals both use one-piece lower links, centrally pivoted like the top cross-member which allows greater flexibility in terms of the geometry of the tilting system.Tag: Honda Three-Wheel Scooter Tricity NeoWing Patent MP3 Yamaha Piaggio NC750 Concept
