The Ducati Monster 1100, Classic Desmo Monster
The Ducati Monster 1100, coming from daily life on my Kawasaki ER6N these motorcycle is going to feel alien. I've always wanted to ride a Ducati Monster and now I'm the daddy of the family, getting a modern day nakedbike with 95 hp and 10.5kgm of torque from the 1078cc L-Twin cylinder Desmodromic engine now was probably my last chance.It doesn't take too long to get used to the raw power of the Ducati Monster 1100, but I didn't struggle with it as much as I thought I would. The riding position is much more traditional cafe racer than other other motorcycles I test ridden, and the Ducati Monster 1100 is a fair reach from the seat to the handlebars and very much suits those with long arms. But there's something nostalgic about the Ducati and I've never heard the roar from the pipes nor the growl from the engine when I dropped down a few gear and yanked the throttle open. Sweet.
The Ducati Monster 1100 is a skinny thing and makes a Yamaha FZ1 look seriously fat. I'd got used to the power of the Ducati Monster 1100 by the end of the second day, but the Ducati always felt very rapid and I wish I'd had the confidence to really get the Monster 1100 through the gears. The Ducati Monster 1100 is the sort of motorcycle that wants to be told what to do and I do like the clunky feel of the Ducati through the gears.
The Ducati Monster 1100, it really is one of those motorcycles that you want to say you've owned or ridden as it's such a design classic, and had it not been for the Monster's popularity we may never seen other popular Ducati models.
