I am looking for a small bike for my mother-in-law. She already tried the Fino and the Scoopy, but they are too heavy and too powerful for her.

Does anybody know, if there are small «mopeds» with 50 cc engines or electric motors available in Thailand. I am looking for new models, not second-hand old-timers.

Not much hope for you to find a road legal new 50cc scooter in Thailand. So your choice is basically limited to electric scooters.

Tiger Motorcycles has a nice collection of electric scooters which are acceptable in price.

Thank you for your fast answer and advice!

«Road-legal» is less important, because she would use it only in her village (where just nobody has a driving license…)

In most countries around the world a 50cc motorcycle/scooter can be used without the need of a drivers license. Or with very easy drivers license, requirements. In some countries a 50cc is seen as a bicycle with support engine...

But in Thailand we have no law that a motor vehicle can be used without drivers license, every person older than 18-years of age need to have a valid drivers license to operate a motor vehicle.

The only exception to this law is that children younger than 18 years can use a scooter (automatic transmission two-wheel motor vehicle) with an engine not exciding 110cc. But when they turn 18 years old they also need a drivers license....
