The new Dunlop Sportmax Q3 introduces 'Carbon Fiber Technology (CFT)' to motorcycle tires. Dunlop technicians told us that very fine carbon-fiber 'particles' have been mixed into the rubber compound in the tire's bead area.Dunlop technicians claim that the high stiffness of carbon fiber, as well as its excellent tensile strength, low weight, chemical resistance, temperature tolerance and low thermal expansion, make it ideal for us in high performance motorcycle tires.
Dunlop maintains that the superb reinforcement properties of Carbon Fiber Technology result in improved cornering stability at deep lean angles, plus more precise and responsive steering. It's also claimed to make motorcycles more predictable and smooth in transitional-steering performance. In short, Dunlop says Carbon Fiber Technology results in confidence-inspiring handling without a weight penalty.
People who tested the new Dunlop Sportmax Q3 say that the Dunlop Sportmax Q3 improved stability under hard, straight-line braking and its lighter steering response when trail-braking.
The Dunlop Sportmax Q3 offers a modest improvement in stability and handling over its predecessor, which is good progress considering that the Sportmax Q3 recommended retail price has remained the same as the Sportmax Q2.
