The 2016 Kawasaki ZX-10R - What's New

Kawasaki are keen to point out that they didn't want to increase the maximum power output of the previous Kawasaki ZX-10R sold in Thailand, but just increase the low to mid-range power, which Kawasaki claims to have been achieved. The engine has been revised with a new cylinder head and crank – and has lost 20 percent of its weight.

Kawasaki claim the new engine's reduction in inertia allows it to spin up much faster, and also helps the motorcycle change direction more easily.

The headstock of the 2016 Kawasaki ZX-10R is mounted 7.5mm nearer the rider and the swingarm is 15.8mm longer, helping to put more weight over the front wheel, improving stability under braking and turn-in, and improving grip. The swingarm pivot and steering head are adjustable using race kit parts. The wheelbase for the 2016 Kawasaki ZX-10R is now 1440mm, compared to 1425mm on the old motorcycle. Interestingly the seat height is up to 825mm from 813mm.
The airbox is now two liters larger, at 10 liters, giving the engine a larger volume of air to draw from. This is also helped by a ram-air intake which has been moved further forward for greater efficiency. The exhaust is also all-new, and now has titanium headers.

The Showa suspension uses a new design never seen on a street legal motorcycle before, and the brakes are now Brembo items with the disc size increased by 20mm, to 330mm.

The 2016 Kawasaki ZX-10R's electronics are new too, now with traction control, a quickshifter, riding modes, cornering ABS and linked brakes, and engine braking control.Tag: Kawasaki ZX-10R 1000cc Sportbike Inline-Four Showa Brembo 2016 ABS
