The MV Agusta F3 - Triple-inline Supersport

It looks like Triumph will have a fight on its hands. Having monopolized the triple-cylinder supersport market since 2006 with its Daytona 675, a three cylinder rival has finally emerged in the form of the rather sexual MV Agusta F3.

The MV Agusta F3, just launched worldwide, is the first big bike to be announced by the newly owned Italian factory. American money may have paid the development of the MV Agusta F3 and new production facilities, but the dollars won't be flowing back to Milwaukee once the new MV Agusta F3 is being sold in the showrooms around the world.

Using the silhouette of the MV Agusta F4 series as its obvious inspiration, the F3 won the second place of the 'Most Beautiful Bike of Show' at the 69th EICMA motorcycle show.
The three stubby exhaust cans are the most eye-catching element of the motorcycle, but as a package there's never been a better looking supersport motorcycle – even if its lines are now over familiar.

Claiming to make an ambitious 140 horsepower, the engine architecture of the MV Agusta F3 is likely to be similar to the Triumph's. The triple layout is new to modern day MV agusta, but is claimed to be the most compact engine in the class, with a counter rotating crank – never seen in supersports before. To help the engine on its way, there will be rode-by-wire system that features both multimaps to suit various different surfaces, and MV Agusta's traction control system – a first for a 600cc.

The MV Agusta F3 will use both steel tubing and aluminum side plates to form the frame, and the compact engine has allowed MV Agusta's engineers to hone in on the motorcycle's appetite for cornering. The single-sided swingarm is not just for show, as it's longer length means that it will be able to cope with the go, too. Brembo radial calipers, a Nissin radial master cylinder, Marzocchi forks and Sachs shock make up the most important components. It's got it all – so let's hope it works and comes also to Thailand...
