The Joe Rocket Rasp 2.0 Motorcycle Jacket

The new and redesigned version of Joe Rocket's hybrid jacket called the Rasp 2.0 has upped the level of style, comfort and function that made the original an all-around rider's favorite. While we don't have the low temps that other parts of the world might have I've managed to wear the Joe Rocket Rasp 2.0 through one of Thailand's hottest and coldest weather (which was actual only a few degree different).

The Joe Rocket Rasp 2.0 is the motorcycle jacket I would wear if I should ride to destinations up north in Thailand, where the weather can sometimes be a bit cooler that we Bangkokians appreciate... The jacket feels comfortable from +/- 25 to 35 degree Celsius. I was able to make my daily commute with minimal discomfort wearing nothing more than a long-sleeve T-shirt underneath.

With so many zippers and vents I was expecting to feel some air leakage. But I was happy to note that the seal is excellent and I expect the Joe Rocket Rasp 2.0 to be water resisted. Sorry I didn't experienced any rain while wearing it, anyway its versatility shines when the sun is out.

For the typical Thai weather when mid-day temperatures rises up to 35 degree Celsius and humidity is sweltering, the liner comes out and the front torso panels can be unzipped and removed to reveal 500 square centimeters of mesh ventilation. The Joe Rocket Rasp 2.0 is one motorcycle jacket that you can throw on in all weather conditions without worrying about overheating.<

The shoulder armor is road warrior chic and also serves to hold backpack straps in place during the ride. Other safety features include CE-approved armor at the shoulders and elbows, a removable spine pad with pocket for additional CE armor, and reflective piping down the back that is effective but not overdone.

The one issue I had was the left and right adjustment straps on the sleeves. I somehow kept unsnapping the lower straps, which makes me think a Velcro system would be more secure and lighter. But overall the Joe Rocket Rasp 2.0 still gets perfect marks from me in style and performance, the two most important areas. The Joe Rocket Jacket can be found for around 8,000 THB.
