The Garmin Dakota 20 GPS-Navigation System

The Garmin Dakota 20, we're big fans of Garmin's Edge GPS models, but the new Edge 500 wasn't available. The Garmin Dakota 20 GPS-Navigation system is a more outdoors model, and is more though and we are impressed. A world map world showing most major roads is pre-installed but more detailed maps are available. There's postcode and street name/house number navigation, the Garmin Dakota 20 calculates routes using your profile preferences like most in-car navigation systems, and yet it has all the features you would expect from a GPS built for the great outdoors.

The small and quite low resolution display is perfectly adequate for a system this small and light, although at times we wished the back-light was a little brighter. Still the Garmin Dakota 20 is an excellent GPS-navigation system for the motorcycle, its waterproof and can handle some serious shocks.
The touchscreen of the Garmin Dakota 20 GPS navigation system works well and can be used when wearing motorcycle gloves if you're careful, but because it's recessed, it becomes a small puddle, although it still functioned fine.

The Garmin Dakota 20 can be used with a speed/cadence sensor and a heart rate monitor strap for detailed performance analysis. During testing the Dakota 20 froze once and we had to remove and reinsert the batteries before it would restart.
