A Fender Eliminator for the Suzuki GSX-R1000

This Suzuki GSX-R1000 fender eliminator kit was kindly supplied by Cheap Cycle Parts and you get pretty much everything you need for the job – apart from the tools obviously. Before you go ripping off your original fender and number plate brackets, just remember that they're there for a reason... they prevent all the dirt and stones from flicking up and damaging your undertail, plus reduce the rain from spraying up your back off the rear tire.

Now that we have that out of the way, the first job you need to do is remove the original fender. The Suzuki GSX-R1000 fender is very simple. There are only four bolts holding it on and it only has two small wires for the number plate light because the indicators are in the seat unit.

After removing the original Suzuki GSX-R1000 fender, place the new fender eliminator bracket up against the holes to make sure it fits. With that done, disconnect any wires.
It's then time to wire in your new connectors. With the wires cut, pull back the coating to expose the bare copper in order to check that the new lights work correctly.

Once you know everything works, thread the LED wires through the hole in the new bracket and then pull them through the original hole in the seat unit. With the wires in place, screw the small lights to the bracket and fit the bracket to the seat unit with the new Allen key bolts that came with the kit – just remember to use Loctite on the bolts to stop them from vibrating loose.

The fast job you need to do is join the new wires with the old ones. There are a few ways of doing this but the easiest is by using the special clamp connectors that come with the Hot Bodies Racing fender eliminator kit. All you need to do here is run the two wires you're connecting parallel in the clamp and squeeze the clamp together. If you have a soldering iron, it may be an idea to solder them together as this will make a more permanent fixture. If you go with this route then you can use heat shrink to seal them from the weather. hot bodies racing sbk undertail - blue
